The low-cost and fast assembling prefabricated steel warehouse construction industry in Zimbabwe mainly requires the performance of steel in the following five aspects: 1) structural stress performance. The yield strength requirements for building steel are increasing, and the use of high-strength structural steel can reduce the weight of the building structure and meet the stress requirements of special and complex structures; 2) Seismic performance. To meet seismic requirements, steel is required to have a lower yield to strength ratio, higher plastic deformation capacity, and plastic energy dissipation capacity, thereby improving the overall ductility of the structure and increasing the safety margin of low-cost and rapidly assembled prefabricated steel warehouse buildings in Zimbabwe under seismic loads; 3) Solderability. To ensure welding quality and simplify welding processes, it is required to further improve the weldability of building steel. In order to prevent layer tearing during the welding process, it is also necessary to have good Z-direction performance; 4) Corrosion resistance.
